Altimeter/Elevation on Beta 3.53

Hey all,
I'm currently on the Beta 3.53 while I await the rollout of update 4.00 to my watch. I saw people posting that 3.53 fixed their elevation calculations during faster ascents/descents. I am still seeing a skew in the numbers however. I've narrowed it down to the fact that the watch doesn't seem to be capturing lows and highs quite perfectly before they change direction. For example, there's one hill that I take from about 580 feet down to 450 feet. The watch has shown that bottom at 449, 489, and 490 on the last three rides. The one where it was accurate, I actually got stopped at a traffic light. Overall my rides are much, much closer to the correct elevation (about 10% low as opposed to over 50% under reported before the beta update). But they still aren't matching up with what I know the elevation to be. Is anyone else still seeing this? It's like the watch just can't quite capture changes quickly enough.

Also, I have the standard watch face from Garmin with the three dials. I'm new to Garmin, so I apologize if this is an idiotic question, but the altimeter reading and steps reading on the watch face only update periodically as opposed to real time. Is that normal? The HR obviously monitors continuously, but even when I'm walking uphill/downhill, the altimeter and steps lag. The altimeter will update randomly every 30-90 seconds or so during my walk. I have data recording set to one second if that matters.

Thanks for any input. I wrote garmin's beta email about it, but just wanting to see other opinions.

Oh and just a side note - coming from Fitbit (two previous models), the Garmin is a game changer for me. I can't believe I didn't switch sooner.
