You should have a seperate MAP activity on your watch just to see the maps. If you don't have maps activity you can reinstall it throu Garmin Connect.
In other activities you have to enable the map screen in settings.
There are couple posts about maps, I will repeat my info:
Remember that choice of maps is activity specific (you can use different maps in different activities), so if you want to check which maps are in the watch then go to the menu and chose:
Settings->Activities&Apps->Map->Map Settings->Map->Configure Maps.. there you can choose which maps from the watch you want to use for the Map activity. In my watch it shows: - Worldwide DEM Basemap, NR - TopoActive Europe East 2017.30 - TopoActive Europe West 2017.30
Files in the /GARMIN directory: gmapbmap.img - 46,8 MB - the worldwide base map gmapdem.img - 919 MB - worldwide DEM data (Digital Elevation Model) gmapprom.img - 2,09 GB - TopoActive Europe map (part 1) gmapprom1.img - 3,78 GB - TopoActive Europe map (part 2) gmapsup1.img (also 2 and 3) - the golf course files
Also remember you can use freeware maps in the watch, for example from this place The created *.img file should be put in /GARMIN directory of the watch.
