Fenix 5S/5 Plus - 3.56 Beta Release

How about an update that allows the altimeter to work properly? A watch geared for athletes but God forbid one of the most basic features is broken from day one.

Nick the previous beta included an update for some of the altimeter issues (but not all). Have you tried that? And if you try the beta and log through the bug report email you can help them fix your specific issue.

You better put every effort into fixing the sports and measurement related issues because that's what the people primarily boutght the watch for.

when are you going to adress the virtual partner problem (the time ahead or behind does not show on the top of the screen)? I would call this an essentiell feature. whenever I need it, I have to swith to my forerunner 735XT.

While i'm swimming I noticed a bug: total lengths data field and total distance data field don't report correctly length number/total distance. I try to explain better with an example. I swim 10 lengths freestyle than 4 lengths drill. Now let's focus on total lengths or total distance data fields: if I swim another 2 lengths, at the end of 2nd length while I'm swimming and I look the watch, total lengths data field should be 16 and total distance should be 400m but it reports 14 lengths (350m). Simply it doesn't count drill lengths until you press lap or you stop the activity; after you press lap or stop, total swim length and total distance jump to a correct number ( 16 lengths or 400m in this case). Repeat length data field and repeated distance work correctly.

I also noticed that there is a bug in navigation activity: if you try to navigate to somewhere and than stop and delete navigation, it seems that navigation activity keep run in background; today while I was trying to configure data pages in pool swim activity, I found "navigation settings" menu just near to pool swim configuration menu and while I was swimming in the pool and I was changing data pages, it appeared also navigation pages like map ETA, ete ecc... The only way to stop this crazy thing is to keep pressed up button went to navigation, set a fake destination, went back to swimming pool data pages, keep pressed up button and that selected stop navigation!
After this trick navigation menu is no more present in swimming pool settings and in other activity setting (like run, walk, bike ecc...).

what i found out is that finding the gps signal needs definitely longer than 3.10

My Fenix5plus just froze while displaying an incoming notification from my Phone 6 :(
The only button that worked was the light button - all other buttons showed no reaction.
I did hold down the light button for more than 20 seconds to get the watch rebooting and working again.

I had a Fenix 5S up to 1 month ago, and it would count the indoor swimming laps without any issues.

I switched to a Fenix 5S Plus, one month ago. For the first 3 weeks the swimming lap accuracy was spot on. Since Satursday (11/8) it adds 10 laps after the first dozen,
It counts perfectly from 1 to 12
At 12 t shows 22
At 22 it shows 42
etc etc and 72 it shows 142.
That is on the watch. Also on the watch the distance is shown as a multiple of the laps shown and the pool distance.

However, when I sync the data back to Garmin Connect I see the correct distance. Of course, while swimming you need to see the lap count / distance there and then to know how much more you need to do ...

I believe the issue for me started happenning with the latest firmware update (4.0.0.0) !!!

I hope you guys @ Garmin can fix this soon because this bug spoils all the fund in swimming....

Same issue here - swimming recording in pool seems completely random and sporadic - sync to Connect reported different stats and then checking the activity summary on the watch shows it had corrected itself. Useless as a training tool currently. 3.1 worked really well. Have emailed the beta team.
