5X Plus Ti (Upgrading from 5X Questions)

Pulled the trigger last light on a 5X Plus with the Titanium band. Some questions..

For those of you that have this one, how is the quality of the DLC Ti band? (overall feel, durability and scratch resistance)

For those that also came from the 5X, is the overall battery life about the same, better or worse?

I was also intrigued by the watch being able to set elevation with map data. I have a subscription to the Topo 25K maps, I haven't seen anything though on running higher resolution maps on the 5X+, they are clunky on my 5X - does anyone know if they're any better on the 5X+?

Cheers
  • Hello,

if I can help as I also came from a 5X...

    Battery life is better.

Elevation is done after a GPS fix. Not good in the city if your are on a building but works in the wild.
It's faster than the tri dimensional attempts (GPS only) as it's only need to find you on the map which store the altitude value.
So it should be more accurate if the map is well done.

Can not help you about the OEM titanium bracelet as I have bought a "Quickfit" Chinese titanium bracelet which seems really scratch resistant so far (zero scratch even no hair lines... I'm amazed...)

So far I'm very very happy with my 5X+ (The Ox level function asked for a bigger battery I assume and it has a MUCH better autonomy --- 0,2% by hour in ABC/HR/BT mode...)... But I would have bought a smaller Fenix 5+ Titanium if its battery life was not worst than the original Fenix 5 (which was better than the original F5 last year)...

    Cheers

Oh sorry, no update of the site, even the loggin system won't remember me... (and I'm not a robot !!)
Here is the link to Amazon France. It is really scratchproof which is great on titanium bands compared to my Tissot silver titanium bracelet which is a scratch magnet. I think it's DLC and not PVD in regards of how pristine this black bracelet is: not a single mark !!

You will notice that the only review is mine ! ;-)

Edit: I have found a Amazon UK link:
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/NotoCity-Titanium-Wristband-Adjustable-Replacement/dp/B07D5RMN3B

The (only) reviewer said it is not Titanium because it's written Stainless Steel on the butterfly buckle.
So he has sent it back...

My two cents: the buckle is obviously steel. Also the pins linking the bracelet are steel.
I have checked it with a magnet.

Now the bracelet is much lighter than the previous Chinese steel bracelets I had.
Both were heavy. The first one was losing its coating on the inside and the second one was messing with the compass.

Anyway the bracelet is solid (the quickfit system is solid), light and scratch proof when my OEM black resin band is already showing some wear...

Manners... This is not an interrogation room.
