Hello everybody,

bought a 5s+ last week. During some hikes with navigation map display the device dies after 5-6 hours. I switched off BT, WiFi and light. No chance to reach the 11 hours. What does Garmins definition of GPS use mean? Only tracking with some timer display or real map navigation? Any experiences or suggestions?
  • 1. Power cycle the battery a few weeks for optimum performance. If you are expecting to get the best battery after 2-3 charges that ain't going to happen.
    2. Are you using any kind of custom watchfaces and or connect IQ apps?
    3. GPS reffers to activity done with GPS (I was able to get a 10 hour activity with GPS recorded on my Fenix 5s+) No map navigation. That takes the toll as it's using more CPU power.
    4. Power also depends on the quality of GPS signal based on your position. 6 Hours for such a small device with map navigation is really good but i expect to get better with future FW.

If you need more power I guess Fenix 5+ or Fenix 5X+ is the way to go. S has a different target in mind (and it was always like that)
