I’m considering buying a F5X+ as a replacement for my old and trustful F3. Garmin says that the battery lasts up to 32h in GPS mode and as an ultra runner, battery is one of the most important specs of a watch. Has anyone did any test about battery consumption in GPS mode? It would be really helpful for future customers.
Tracked my trip by car to my holiday destination Fenix 5+, fw 3.21, gps only, 1 sec, Tempe Sensor and bt connection to Iphone: battery went down from 80 to 46% (34%) in 9 hrs 24 min (about 3,58%/hour)
Volker, your trace is perfect !! You don't have the "drunk man" syndrome. What are your settings on the watch for GPS ? Are you using GPS + Galileo ? I saw you use Version 3.21, is it a Beta version ? I am with version 3.10 but on Garmin connect, it is indicated that I am up to date.
Thank you guys. Near 30h is great for ultra races! It does not have the extreme battery with FusedTrack of Suunto9 but it does have an endless list of features, settings on the fly and conveniences that make the F5X+ a secure choice.

I don't have any drunk man syndrom when I use the Garmin for tracking in my car too. Speed changes everything. Guess we need to run faster !! ;-)

Could be the speed and perhaps the lock on road settings turned on.
I have noticed the lock on road do not affect the tracing. I thought it was the case on my F5X... Not on the Plus anyway. It shows the blue arrow glued on the road by the tracks continues near it. There is a segment drawn between the arrow and the trace.
