Dear Garmin: Will "Show course on a MAP" feature be enabled on Fenix 5X or 5 Plus?

Hey Garmin, I am looking to upgrade my Epix to a Fenix 5x or Fenix 5 Plus. I looked at a 5x a few months ago. At that time I found that the option to "Show course on a MAP" was not available on the Fenix 5x.

Menu> Navigation>Courses select a course then select Show on map.

I use this option frequently on my Epix. (And on my handheld 64S before that) It means I can have multiple tracks/courses displaying on the MAP at the same time.
It also means you can see a course or track displayed on the map without navigating it. This is useful when hiking in new areas and having optional routs available.

Is there a plan to make this option available on the fenix 5x or 5 Plus models?

This is the only reason I am not upgrading now.

Thanks.
  • Yes please! I use this on the Edge 520 Plus all the time, would be nice to have it for hikes as well!
  • Wow, I had no idea this feature was *not* available on 5+
  • My 5+ has menu--->Navigate--->Courses--->(Select Course)--->Map.

    Is this not the functionality you are asking about?

    HI there": that function just shows the course on the map for you to see immediately. Does not make the course visible while using map to see other courses, current location or when navigating. (Unless you navigating that particular course)

    Yep, me too. When hiking, I often have GPS tracks showing alternative routes and on other GPS devices like a Dakota 20 it is useful to see them all at once on the map. Unfortunately the Fenix 5X doesn't seem to allow this (yet). I want it!

    BTW, does anyone know a good way to 'merge' multiple tracks into a single one so it can show on Fenix? The merge would have to allow a fork and join and be able to remove redundant points. Not sure it is even possible. The poor 'router engine' would have a fit of 'logical indecision' as to which way to go!
  • I am another past Epix user coming to the Garmin Fenix 5X, this should definitely be enabled, having other courses visible on the map is one of the most useful features of the epix and handhelds such as the Oregon! Also Saved Courses should have the option to set its color so that they can be easily identified!
  • I definitely have the option on mine.

    Start activity - Navigate - Courses - {pick course } - Map

    but it's not what I think you are searching for (having more courses on the map)

    I think that feature was left out with a reason (battery related I guess)
