Battery draining and advices for optimisation

Hi,

I am surprised when I see some users having their Fenix draining about just 0.2% per hour (Nemosandman ;-) ), whereas I am draining about 0.5-0.7%/hour and sometimes a lot more. These values are just in watch mode and notification mode (no GPS used).

Here is my configuration :

- Brightness : 20%
- Backlight : always off, never used
- Watch face : ActiFace
- Smart notification : Enabled (for calls, SMS, and very few apps),
- Vibration : no
- HR : on
- Oxymeter : off
- I added some widgets but I am using them vere rarely (ex : Battery Gauge, solar system, sun & moon times, Quick Forecast,...)
- Never using music.

I've made a soft reset but it doesn't change anything.

I played a lot with the watch during first days. Maybe I need to clean some files...

Do you have some advices to increase battery life or some optimisations to apply ?

Thanks

  • Hello
    checking the Battery Gauge widget.
I'm at 0,5% on the last hour (just made an OX measurement for your other thread) and 3,1% the last day and I have used GPS for 30 minutes during some evening walk...

    Here is my configuration :

    - Brightness of the backlight : 20%
    - Automatic backlight : always off, never used
    - Watch face : SC8
    - Smart notification : Enabled (for calls, SMS, and very few apps),
    - Vibration : Yes
    - HR : on
    - Oxymeter : off
    - I added some widgets but I am using them often (ex : Battery Gauge, solar system, sun & moon times, Quick Forecast,...)
    - Never using music but piloting some music equipment with bluetooth.

The way the HR is used or some reception is harder can change the battery consumption.
For example if a bluetooth equipement is too far from the garmin it could use more energy to reach it.

Also using Garmin Express can update and "clean" ...

But in case of doubt... call Nanterre !! ;-)
  • I think it was actiface thats drains too much battery. I install a very simple face on the watch and now I am about 0.1% per hour.
  • Like they say: PIC NIC... Problem in chair not in computer. :-D
But seriously you should stay away from watchfaces showing HR on high frequency which can drain faster the battery.
With a huge battery like the 5XPlus this is not an issue anyway.
