racing a previous activity" resp. virtual partner

I am totally disappointed with the alpha state of my new fenix 5s Plus and I am going to describe alle the problems in different subjects.

Using the the function "racing a previous activity" resp. virtual partner is not giving the estimated time being ahead or behind. the field on top the screen stays empty, just the estimated final time at the bottom of the screen changes adequately as well as the distance between the two runners.

By the way: Why is being ahead the old activity is symbolized by a red runner while being behind by a green one? It should be just the opposite. Being faster should be green, slower red.

I am sick of being an alpha tester of garmin products.

music: some songs make the watch freeze in
SOLVED: personal records: the watch is unable to read personal records from garmin connect but just starts from anew

after installing 3.21 Beta all problems remained and now sleep tracking is now underestimating my sleep by more than 30% compared to firmware 3.10

You mean personal records? The watch won't download PRs from Garmin Connect just by itself, but you can trigger sending your PRs from Garmin Connect to your watch. Have you tried that?
  • Thank You, tmk2! I triggered as advised by you. This solved my problem
  • Did someone of you ever tried the function: "racing a previous activity"? I tried it on 3 different 5s Plus. It did not show any time ahead or behind in the upper field.
  • soss3osp No timing showing during a race against a previous activity has been reported, and we are working on it.
  • thank you so much for that information. i really couldn't believe that noone came across that problem since i tried it on 3 different fenix 5s plus.

I can confirm this same issue. Glad to see Garmin has already acknowledged and is aware of it.

Keep up the good work, Garmin folks. Despite there being issues that do come up, I'm glad that Garmin is at least responsive and works to fix issues after product launch.

all nice and well, but September 2018 and still not solved
  • This may be a similar, if not a directly related issue, but I am also noticing problems when performing an activity with the "Set a Target" option in the Training menu of an activity. I recently ran a 5K using this option to set a distance and time. Interestingly enough, the Time Ahead/Time Behind fields appeared to be working; however, the "Est Finish Time" field was incorrect by multiple hours.

I ran a quick test and it appears the same issue also applies to the "Distance and Pace" option in "Set a Target."
