Bluetooth drops with phone

Had my original 5X for 3 months. Flawless connection with Garmin Connect app on my iPhone X.

Just invested in the DLC titanium 5X Plus and connection keeps dropping and I have to toggle Bluetooth on the iPhone to get a reconnect.

Not what I was hoping for when dropping a huge chunk of change on the new product!
  • I'm having this same issue, literally every day, multiple times. Previous watch was Garmin fenix 5X and those issues had all been worked out. Now we're back to the same issue and it's very frustrating.
  • I was having a similar problem with my Samsung phone. Not sure what exactly fixed it, but one thing I found in the Connect phone app was 'Device Connection Aid' and turned it to on.

In Mobile app: 3 line Stack options drop down (left hand corner) -> Settings -> Device Connection Aid (at very bottom) -> Switch to on.

Thanks for the suggestion but it's not there in the iPhone app.

I might try the 3.21 beta if the Bluetooth version is newer
  • I am not sure if it it the same phenomena, but i have bluetooth „reconnect“ problems. My connection drops several time a day (due to having the phone in the house, and being ouside in the backyard), sometimes it reconnects when been back in the house, sometime toggeling bluetooth in the fenix is enough, somtetimes i need to toggle bluetooth on the iphone. My vivosport reconnects without problems.
This is with fimware 3.1 and no change after indtalling beta 3.21. iPhone is a 8plus running 11.4 now 11.4.1

Looking at the files the 3.1 software and the 3.21 beta both have the BT version of 2.80 so I'll hold off until that changes
  • New Beta 3.53 behaves different, even if the BT version is still at 2.8.
I noticed a striked out bluetooth symbol for been disconnected (which was correct because of the distance to the phone), on the way back i noticed that there was no bloutooth icon at all for a few seconds an then it was back and connected. I need to monitor for a little longer to see how stable the connection is after the update.

Yes just updated to 3.53 myself also as it specifically mentions improved BT connection for iOS.
  • I believe this is issue happen, because in your mobile phone there is Bluetooth version 4.2 and in Fenix ( I think) version 5.0.
i AM not sure what version have Fenix but maybe this is the reason why Samsung 8 is compatible with Fenix .
There is list of compatible mobile phones and there is Samsung 8 on the list

Im having the same issue to as well with my iPhone X and i have the GARMIN FENIX 5X PLUS. Even with latest update , my bluetooth still suffers . Its getting quite annoying , because I have to manually sync my information instead of the bluetooth route . I wish Garmin will really fix this .
