5s plus ANT+ connectivity drop outs

Hi folks,

does anyone beside me see massive drop outs for HRM run and especially foot pods? I own a Stryd and it works perfectly with an FR935 but an my 5s plus I see drop outs over drop outs (in my last 18k run approx. 30 drops!!).

Am I alone? Or is that issue known and beeing investigated already?

As far as I can tell with my 5+ I have no drop outs from either my hrm-run or Stryd. Can you explain what the dropouts you’re seeing look like? When I had my Fenix 5 i used to see gaps in the graphs on GCM and these are what I would describe as dropouts. Is this what you’re seeing?
  • i have exactly the same set-up 5s plus (sapphire) with hrm run and stryd. no drop-outs whatsoever
  • I set the activity public - is that enough to get the file? Have no experience with that...

OK, obviously not ;-) - here is the fit file:

Something certainly doesn’t look right with the gaps in running dynamics data. However if you overlay your pace onto the power graph then the two seem to match up so Stryd maybe okay.
  • OnlyTwo What are you using to view that data in the .fit file?
  • OnlyTwo thanks for that .
  • Thanks to anyone trying to help me out with this mess...

    Here some more information:
    - Firmware 3.10
    - GPS 2.20
    - Wi-Fi 2.50
    - CIQ 2.4.5
    - ANT/BLE/BT 2.80
    - Sensor Hub 2.10

    Setting:
    - WiFi only when I press the button
    - Bluetooth on and connected to iphone X during activity
    - no music
    - GPS only in run mode

    - STRYD datafield to record power
    - AppBuilder for 3s average pace
    - TrainingPeaks App

    - Stryd set to pace and distance source
    - Stryd coupled as FootPod
    - HRM-Run

    Start routine when training:
    - starting run mode
    - tie laces :-)
    - check if GPS signal is found and ANT sensors are connected
    - start activity

All of this works perfectly with the FR935 ... is it to much to ask for the same performance in the 5s plus?

I’m hopeful for you that this is just a setup issue as there are so many people on here that don’t have any issues. If you haven’t already I would log the problem with Garmin. If it was me I would probably reset the watch and try a run with no CIQ apps installed and not connected to a phone.
  • Next time I hit the road I’ll take both watches with me. And thx for the tips so far!
  • Update:

Already wrote this on the Stryd forum:

Freakin crazy - I just had a run with my (problematic) Fenix 5s plus and additionally my FR935.
I switched bluetooth of during the run (a solution suggestion from the Stryd support team) and the result are two perfect recordings.

I had the same structures workout running on both watches and the intervals completed within two foot steps. Amazing!

Hopefully this wasn't a one time experience. Next run I will switch of bluetooth again. (Although I appreciate getting messages during my run, especially when the kids are alone at home...)

The two runs really look like twins. Also the GPS tracks are both great. Will have a detailed look with the Fit File Repair Tool tomorrow, but so far I am happy.
