Problem with virtual racer (Race activity) on Fenix 5x plus

I have the problem on Fenix 5x plus with virtual racer(Race activity). I wanted to race against the previous score on the watch and it is not showing any time AHEAD or BEHIND. It just shows the anticipated finished time. The problem was the similar as with Fenix 5x on 5.30 and 5.40 firmware.

Hi - I am having the same problem and unfortunately the Garmin workaround is not correct. Yes, when you discard and restart then the time ahead and behind work. However, it is no longer accurate in terms of where you are in your activity. Instead, all it does is take your average pace for the activity and tell you if you are behind or ahead. This is significantly less accurate then the typical "race an activity" which knows exactly where you were on a track at each second and knows how long it took you to get there and tells you how far or behind you are. For example, I use it often to run a 10K trail run and obviosuly pace changes significantly along trail and when going up and down. This workaround gives me nothing, because I fall significantly behind going up and then catch-up going down. Easier to continually be doing the math in my head while running. This problem has been here for 4 months now. Garmin, if you could please fix this, would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: pbiezych is correct. If you try race an activity the first time it is actually referring to the run you selected except for the missing data. If you use the workaround the fenix simply takes you to the normal virtual partner with the constant pace you selected.
  • I tried the work around, did not work for me, it's a shame because it's just the time ahead /behind, that's not there, all the other data is ok, maybe to much info, just want time ahead/behind, Virtual Racer never worked on my Forerunner 935 properly, and the last time I tried on my 935 the watch never worked again, hopefully they will get this working soon, as if I want to race an activity I have to use my Forerunner 910 which works perfect for this.

la Version 10 installée ce jour ne corrige pas le problème

le Virtual Racer est hors service depuis la 9.20. obligation de re-installer la V8 pour avoir cette fonctionnalité

    Vite un correctif ...

    merci

I am still having this problem with my 5x, hopefully the next software issue will fix it :(
  • Was this ever solved?

I have the same problem with beta 4.74. My time ahead/behind is always empty, and the runner animation always shows two runners slightly offset.

But on top of that I have an even worse problem:
The estimated time to finish is way off. And it is different in the two data screens showing this information. For a 5 km run, the first screen showed almost 5 hours and the second screen showed almost 3 hours. But I was moving at roughly the same pace as in the original run which had taken less than an hour.

Also, if I drastically changed my pace, the estimated time to finish would only change by a few minutes out of those 5 hours.

Oh, and I have the small, red navigation arrow which would usually show the relative bearing to my next waypoint. But it always points upwards, even if I am running in the opposite direction. I am not even sure whether Race an Activity is supposed to also navigate you through the route of that activity or only make sure you run at the same pace on any route.
  • This has been fixed in the last software update. Please update your device and thank all of you for reporting this issue and working with us to get it fixed.

I just tested with firmware 5.00 in a Bike activity. Nothing has changed.

Unfortunately, I also still have this issue. Honestly, there have been numerous software updates since this issue started 3/4 months ago and candidly I haven’t noticed what the upgrades/improvements are.

GARMIN - Is it possible to reverse/uninstall the updates and go back to the software version where this worked?

Going forward there should also be an option not to upgrade firmware (like Apple does).

Please let us know. This is a real bummer.
