I have the problem on Fenix 5x plus with virtual racer(Race activity). I wanted to race against the previous score on the watch and it is not showing any time AHEAD or BEHIND. It just shows the anticipated finished time. The problem was the similar as with Fenix 5x on 5.30 and 5.40 firmware.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. After some testing, I noticed that if you start the timer, stop it, then discard the activity and press start again the data field will populate then.
I am not sure exactly what you mean, but I would be very happy if you resolve problem quick, because this is my main reason for having Garmin watch. Thank you for now.
I’m sorry, I should have explained in a different method.
We are looking into the issue, but while testing what you reported, I found a workaround (trick) to get it to work on my fenix 5x Plus.
Start your ‘Race an Activity’ like you have been but instead of starting your run after starting the timer, wait a few seconds, stop the activity, Discard (Throw out/start over from the beginning), and then hit the Start button to start your activity/race and run.
Every time I did the steps above to make a fake Race an Activity beforehand and then Discarded it, the second try worked perfectly.
Of course, that is just a workaround until we can improve the feature, so it would work the way we would expect.
I am sorry but I just could not get it to work even with this workaround. Maybe I did not make it the right way, but I tried many times and It still not work. I just don't understand that virtual racer, which is not new function is making you so much trouble to fix. I hope you will fix it soon, otherwise, I can say that this is too expensive watch not to do what is promised.
Exactly same problem here with fenix 5. My old edge 800 did this without any issues, so I feel pretty stupid having recently upgraded to fenix 5 just to find out it does n not work here.
Is this working for anybody right now ? Tried a virtual race the other day, all worked fine except for the time ahead or behind showed nothing, is this the same for everyone ?
While not the Virtual Race feature, I added a "Training Target" during a run this weekend and that worked as expected. I selected the "distance and pace" option and saw the time ahead/behind throughout the run.
