5 Plus - OEM Maps

I got my 5 Plus last week, have now done 4 runs with it, replacing a 5S. I have not seen the battery issues commented on in this forums, seems to be pretty good to me. The GPS accuracy also seems fine (as was the case for the 5S). Not living in the US I needed to install maps for my location, just got this done, I now have POIs, maps, and turn by turn navigation all working. Came across two problems getting mapping going, first it seems that Garmin have changed the protocol used by the watch to connect and mount on a laptop, a Mac in my case. With my 5s the watch would mount as an additional drive making it easy to access the watch's storage, for example to apply beta upgrades. The 5 Plus will not automatically mount on my Mac, seems that the watch now presents itself as an MTP device, not something that the Mac can chew on automatically. I tried a number of utilities to allow me to browse the watch's storage, the one that worked was Commander One. With Commander One I was able to mount the watch as an MTP device. Next piece of the jigsaw was to get a map for my location, luckily I have been using OEM Garmin compatible maps in my car navigation system for a while. In the end the process was easy, use Commander One to move the .IMG file into the Primary folder on the Watch. Turn the Watch on and off again and wallah, routable local maps. Seems easy now, but it was a bit of a bugger to work out.
