Reload the included Europe Topo Maps with Garmin Express

Hello,

I would like to reinstall the cards that come with the watch :

- TopoActive Europe East,2017.30 (190-11485-04)
- TopoActive Europe West,2017.30 (190-11484-04)

but Garmin Connect and https://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/custo...MapsHome.faces does not offer reinstallation.

Is there a workaround?

Regards
  • Only "coverage"

TopoEurope and FranceV5 are not the original maps of the watch but maps that have been purchased. But

    - TopoActive Europe East,2017.30 (190-11485-04)
    - TopoActive Europe West,2017.30 (190-11484-04)

which are the maps supplied with the watch are not downloadable.

  • I have deleted the preloaded Topo active map (of course saved it), but express didn’t offer me this map (or an update for this map).
  • I also delete the preloaded topo but ... i dont saved it :(
  • Interesting case, i would also like to know how to reinstall these maps. Will a full reset of the watch do the trick?
  • Hello,

It seems that I have a problem with my TopoActive Europe v4 West map.
If I connect my Fenix 5X per USB to my laptop and open Garmin basecamp I can see the following maps located on the watch:

    CourseView Medium SE Americas
CoruseView Medium SE Europe, Middle East, Africa
    CourseView Medium SE Pacific
Garmin Cycle Map EU, North East, 2018.10
Garmin Cycle Map EU, South West, 2018.10
    Garmin DEM Map EU 2017.20
    TopoActive Europe v4 East
    TopoActive Europe v4 West

If I click on the maps I can the filename of the watch, but for the TopoActive Europe v4 West Map it says: list empty.
I have also checked the Kartenprodukte verwalten option in Basecamp where all maps are listed except the TopoActive Europe v4 West.
It is also not possible to use the Topactive West map in garmin basecamp.

How can I reinstall the maps?
I tried to use the reinstall map feature within Garmin Express, reinstalling "Karte Europe 4.0" but it failed for one of the two cards.

    @Garmin:
I really would like to see consistent name between:
    - file on the watch
    - name in garmin basecamp
    - name in garmin express

Overview of the maps which are installed on my fenix 5x and how they are showed in garmin basecamp:

    Name in Basecamp Version Path
CourseView Medium SE Americas 5.70 d:\garmin\gmapsup1.img
CoruseView Medium SE Europe, Middle East, Africa 5.30 d:\garmin\gmapsup2.img
CourseView Medium SE Pacific 4.80 d:\garmin\gmapsup3.img
Garmin Cycle Map EU, North East, 2018.10 18.10 d:\garmin\gmapcycle.img
Garmin Cycle Map EU, South West, 2018.10 18.10 d:\garmin\d6019000a.img
    Garmin DEM Map EU 2017.20 17.20 d:\garmin\d4713060c.img
    TopoActive Europe v4 East 4.00 d:\garmin\d618401a.img
    TopoActive Europe v4 West 4.00 ???

    Quetsion to the forum:
can someone look what the filename is for the TopoActive Europe v4 West map, which doesn't seem to work.

I have looked on my fenix and found some other .img files in the D:\garmin directory:

gmapbmap.img 51 MB -> seems to be the garmin basemap, overview map
    gmaptz.img 580 KB -> timezone data?
gmapprom.img 3,6 GB -> main map with more detailed data

As such I think I am missing the img file for TopoActive Europe v4 West :-(
    How to reinstall?

  • Run JaVaWa's device manager, it will tell you what you actually have http://www.javawa.nl/jdm_en.html

Thank You for the great tip, I didn't know about this tool, which should be shipped by Garmin with every device the sell.
I am currently making a backup of my maps to the "virtual SD Card" before trying to find the root cause, why TopoActive Europe v4 West is not available in BaseCamp.
According to javawa device manager it is present on the watch also marked available in basecamp.

I tried this app but it doesn't recognize my garmin fenix 5 plus in my case.
