fenix 5X Plus and Garmin Physio TrueUp

With the new fenix 5X Plus and Garmin Physio TrueUp, is not everything going well?

While my Edge 1030 deservedly shows 'build up', after all, I had just completed a 108km tour with 1,648 meters of altitude difference, the fenix 5X Plus reports 'recovery'.

Apart from the fact that the fenix 5X Plus also took the activity with itself, there seems to be something wrong here with Physio TrueUp.

Now my question(s): Am I possibly doing something wrong, or is Garmin still doing a bit of work on the fenix 5X Plus firmware?
What do you think?

  • I have a similar experience. This week-end I did a 105km / 2300 D+ ride (TE: 4.1 / 3.8 on the Edge 1030) and in order to discharge the F5+ I also started to record the ride in //
The watch battery died before the end of the ride (it was not fully charged when starting - the point was to have a first full discharge / charge).
I ended up with 2 different rides, the shortest (F5+) I deleted from GC and the watch. The Edge 1030 activity never synced back to the F5+
And I have two different Training status levels on both devices.
Only the recovery time is in sync between the 2.
  • When I got my 5plus I also checked that TrueUp is enabled but the watch (before I did any activity) told me that usual "go out and do a few workouts to get results".

Therefore I opened the connect app and:
    1. disabled TrueUp
    2. Synced the watch
    3. enabled TrueUp
    4. Synced the watch

=> my data (trainingload and state etc.) originating from my 935 was synced and the watch no longer told me to go out and do something first.

Since that date I only used my 5plus therefore I can't tell you how good it would work if I'd switch to 935 in between.
  • Therefore I opened the connect app and:
    1. disabled TrueUp
    2. Synced the watch
    3. enabled TrueUp
    4. Synced the watch

Thank you for your tip. :)
Did not work for me unfortunately.

    Yesterday I completed another training.
Now it looks like this ... :(

  • It's getting worse ... does not anyone have an idea?
A telephone call to Garmin support did not help, there was nothing to say / helped me.

  • Try to reset the watch and start over again
  • Try to reset the watch and start over again

I've done it and put everything back - and started from scratch:

    - Clock to factory setting
    - Edge 1030 and the watch removed from the Garmin Connect app
    - deleted the Garmin Connect app
    - both devices removed from the Bluetooth settings
    - Hard reset iPhone

    Current status as before:
    - VO2max and training work as before
    - recovery times, training status and training load values still do not work

It must therefore be due to Garmin and their software if one part works and some parts do not.
  • Same problem as tekshrek. Trueup works on my 1030 but not with the 5X Plus. Everything is enabled.
  • Just to add to this, I don't really understand how TrueUp relates to Training Status. If you view your training status on Garmin Connect, there's a drop-down to select a device (mine shows my f5+, my old f5 and my Edge 1030). Depending on which device I select, I see totally different data - I thought the whole point of TrueUp was to unify this so it wasn't device-specific?

    correctly ;)
