Blinking triangle

Hi,

????? Does anyone know the button combination for a hard reset of the Fenix 5 plus? The instructions below does not work for me:
Power off the fenix
Hold the down, start, back and power buttons at the same time
When you hear the first beep let the start button go
When you hear the second beep let all of the buttons go
The device will book back up and you will be prompted to enter your profile information
Leave the unit outside, with a clear view of the sky for a minimum of 20 minutes to acquire satellite data before use
  • johan.areskoug I just confirmed that reset on my device. You will need to power the fenix 5 plus off first, and if your device doesn't allow you to power down. Press and hold the Light/Power button for 30 seconds.
  • Thanks, yes I have powered it down completly and it still doesn't work with the reset sequence. I don't get any beeps
  • I've tried to restore the watch through weupdater (holding the start button to enable the computer to recognize) but there is no update available and no way to force re-installing. Is there another way to load the firmware onto the watch?
  • Hi,
The correct sequence for hard reset is:
    - power down
    - press the power button (upper left), when you see the triangle let it go
    - press and hold start button (upper right) and back button (lower right) simultaneously
    - when you hear the first beep let go the start button (upper right)
    - when you hear the second beep let go the back button (lower right)

It works on the fenix 5+, I checked it..

In theory to allow the webupdater to reinstall the firmware you have to change the USB mode in 5+, due to the music capabilities it has two modes: Garmin and MTP (Media Transfer), you have to set it to Garmin.. the watch should be seen in file explorer as a drive not a device.
(in fact when you change to the original Garmin mode it will ask you each time when you connect if you want to use the Media Transfer mode, which it doesn't do the other way around)
    Settings->System->USB Mode->Garmin

As I said in theory because at this moment it doesn't seem to work... so for now we have to wait for a beta firmware which will allow to force reinstall the nonbeta firmware.

    Hope it helps

this worked for me. Like Artivis said... Turn Garmin off, click button.... when you see triangle come up hold both right hand side buttons.... first beep release top right hand button.... second beep release bottom button and wait about 10 seconds.
