Fenix plus Not Connected

I've upgraded from Fenix 5 to Fenix 5 Plus just a week ago. I'm very happy with the upgrade but there's still issues unresolved. In this case my complain(or doubt) is about the connection with my iPhone (running iOS 11.4): it get's lost several times per hour, in fact, I have to terminate the app, turn of de Bluetooth in the iPhone, then turn it on again and then open de Garmin Connect app. It, then, work properly for a while and then disconnects again. Anyone with the same problem? Any solution?
Thanks.
  • Same... my solution: reboot (hard reset) of the iPhone ... then the connection holds again some time...

By the way.. is it mandatory to have the Garmin connect app running in the background on the iPhone to keep the bluetooth connection alive?
  • I'm having the same problem. I switched from Fenix 5 to 5 Plus and didn't have issues like that with the previous device. Maybe it lost connection 3 times within a year but with Fenix 5 plus it doesn't work for the most of the time.
  • Same here. Got a 5 Plus to replace my 5 yesterday. Took two hours just to pair with my Galaxy Note 8 (on Android Oreo). Then lost connection, and took another two hours to reset both ends to pair and connect again. Then lost connection again. It won't even sync over wifi when it is a foot away from my router. So until Garmin get their act together (APAC rom version 2.70), it is back to nostalgic days of cable connection to PC for sync and update.
  • wrote in a different topic but i have the same, with fenix 5 didnt have this issue at all but fenix 5 plus disconnects and doesnt connect back when i come into area of my iphone. Garmin, pls fix this as I am starting to miss calls :) p.s. since i have garmin my iphone is always on silent!

This unreliable connection between my iPhone and the Fenix 5 plus is driving me crazy!!!!!!!

  • Same here. Restarting iOS device typically helps. Sometimes I need to restart both the watch and the iPhone.

An even more annoying thing ist, that although the watch shows the connected symbol on the display, the notifications get through only randomly.
  • Same here, this was also a problem with the fenix 5 (and IIRC the f3) for the first few months after its launch until an update to either the firmware or GCM fixed it. It's annoying that every new model we have to go through exactly the same issues every time.
