Android File Transfer (AFAIK, the only way to 'mount' Garmin on Mac) cannot coexist with Garmin Express. It seems Garmin Express disables automatic launch of Android File Transfer. You can still launch Android File Transfer manually.
This is unbelievable. I just got a Fenix 5S Plus & as described above it will not mount on a Mac desktop like my 5S does. Why this feature would be disabled is difficult to understand.
I have the same problem with my brand new 5S plus. If I'm able to transfer music with garmin express I would like to access to the files directly. When Garmin will correct this situation?
It's because the plus devices as well as the 645m and the va3m are "media devices" like a mp3 player, and apple seems to only work with their media players.
"Garmin" mode is pretty much just a way to charge a watch without it just going to the charging screen. For "charge on the go" so you can charge while using the device. You'll be asked if you want to switch to MTP mode when you connect to a computer.
I am thinking about purchasing the 5XPlus and I only have a imac. What issues do you have when using a Mac?
No issues.
Garmin Express is working Garmin Basecamp is working
You need to download a free program (Android File Transfer) when installing beta firmware and use that instead of Finder. (You still drag the file to a folder)
Benfits for MTP: The host os (windows, mac) doesn't ever decide how to write on the disk so there is an improved speed. There is no need for an eject prodedure.
