IQ data field

hi. is it possible to use more than 2 data fields in 5x+? or still 2?!?
thanks
ciao
  • Haven´t tried more than 2 iq data fields but the connect iq screen om my 5x+ is showing 2/2, so I think there is still a limitation on 2 iq data fields.
  • On watches, 2 is normal max per activity. It's the same here. When you see the "x/2" when selecting a DF, the last number is the max allowed.
  • I can’t now find the reference thread, but a while back a CIQ app developer had worked out why we (F5 and 935 owners at that time) are limited to 2 CIQ DF per activity app, but the 735 allowed 3. The answer was very ‘techy’, but essentially centred around available memory (limited to reduce power consumption) and that the 735 didn’t let you access widgets during an activity, so could let you have that third CIQ DF app in the activity data screens. It seemed a reasonable explanation to me, but I agree that it would be great to have more CIQ DFs available in activity. For example, some people might like to test Stryd power, RunScribe power and Garmin Running Power side by side on the same watch, as well as concurrently using the Auxilliary Heartrate DF to compare 2 HR sources at the same time; but all that would currently need 4 CIQ DF slots per app available...
  • The 735 allowed 3 because they opted for that instead of providing access to the widget loop while in an activity. So you have 3 on the 735, but can't access things like the music control.

With CIQ3 (which is still in beta, and not on watches yet), while the number of DFs is still 2, the size each can be (code/data wise) is greater. The ones I've noticed in the SDK are the 645m and the plus devices (It looks to only be with newer devices). And not just a little bigger - much bigger! So while only two, those 2 can be much more complex... (the 32kb limit on many devices in CIQ2 was getting tight!)
