Disappointing battery life

I have just upgraded from a Fenix 5 to a Fenix 5 plus and so far I am finding the battery life to be a lot less than I would expect.

I used to get nearly 2 weeks battery life out of the Fenix 5 but so far the Fenix 5 plus has used 25% in 2 days, both watches are set up and used exactly the same.

I know the Fenix 5 plus is supposed to have slightly less battery life but at this rate it is not even going to last a week.

Does anyone know if this will improve if I cycle the battery a couple of times or if this is normal for this model
  • RobKenjiwhe , are you sure you mean 1% per hour with GPS??
  • @RobKenjiwhe: Which Fenix ? 5S 5X ??? I think there are differnt percenteges...
  • axbl super useful test and advices! Thanks a lot! just a question, i never connected my 5S Plus to the wifi, shall i disable it at all? How should i do it? tks
  • Well, something like that but I realize it is not an absolute figure. When I check my battery widget right after running it shows around 1% per hour. But that's of course an average.

    Battery question.......

I have been using my F5+ since October. Battery life has been fine. Usually lasts a week even with running and biking.

Last week I went for a run and was at 90% when I started. Only a 3 mile run. Finished it sent it to Garmin Connect just like usual no worries. About 2 hours later I look at my wrist to check the time and the display is blank...hmm that's weird. Charged it overnight and been using it since while exercising. Now today I didn't have any activity but checked the battery life at around 2pm and it was 60%. I drive home get ready to hop on the bike and it's blank again. What the heck is going on? I don't use it as a smart watch so no messaging etc. I also have it set to warn me at 10% neither time did I get a warning. I'm going to call tech support but just wondering if anyone else has had the happen all of a sudden. Been happy with it up until now.

My suggestion is to ring them and speak to them, don't rely on online chat or email. If that doesn't work can you speak to the vendor you bought it off? Failing that demand that you return it to Garmin for a replacement. Replacement watches have worked for a lot of people with battery issues (me included).

I have a 5s and i think my battery life is not as good as it should be...

I started with 99% with Bluetooth Connection and Heartrate on.
I had two outdoor runs with gps+galileo
    30 minutes with music
    two days later without music
Now my Battery is about 33 % after 3 days.
Is that still okay or should i buy a 5 plus?

Sorry for my bad english it's not my mother language.

Gr4z - your replacement F5+ has the battery charge issue fixed (correct % at all times) and no post GPS activity battery drain?

    Thanks,
  • Just found a new feature
    Charge F5+ from 25% to 100%
Leave it charging for another 20 minutes
    Remove the charger
    Boot the watch
    See 96% in the display
    Say WTF?
