Disappointing battery life

I have just upgraded from a Fenix 5 to a Fenix 5 plus and so far I am finding the battery life to be a lot less than I would expect.

I used to get nearly 2 weeks battery life out of the Fenix 5 but so far the Fenix 5 plus has used 25% in 2 days, both watches are set up and used exactly the same.

I know the Fenix 5 plus is supposed to have slightly less battery life but at this rate it is not even going to last a week.

Does anyone know if this will improve if I cycle the battery a couple of times or if this is normal for this model
  • My experience show the same issue, battery is fine and runs just like my old Fenix 5. However, once I use GPS the battery drain is very quick. I charged my watch to 100% lost 2% over night then this morning after a 10 mile run the battery drain is 25% with only 3% taken up with the GPS on the run.
  • Gary - have you found an IQ app that tells you what the process usage is (ie GPS) or is there something native that shows a breakdown of usage?
  • I also noticed that discharging rate is not linear: as you can see from this pic " />"> , discharge rate until 70% is about 0,2%/0,3% per hour, from 70% to 60% is about 0,4%/0,5% per hour, watch has leaved alone on my desk all time without OHR turned on.
  • On my F5S+ I have 12-14% battery drain pr. day with:

    - Smartwatch usage w. BT ON
    - 24/7 OHR
    - WIFI OFF
    - Daily steps etc.
    - Backlight always ON w. 10% illumination
    - Do not disturb from 2200 to 545

While running, I typically see slightly more than 1% battery usage pr. km (with Stryd and HRM run). So in theory, I could run about 80-90 km until completely drained.

    This is on fw6.00

I think this is absolutely fine...
  • Ive been keeping record of battery drain since I got the 5plus on Thanksgiving. Somedays its fine others not so much. Today for an example it was 75% at 8:20am when I left for a run, I ran for 2 hours 10 mins and around 15 miles and stopped my activity on the the watch and battery was 66% at 10:29am. So 9% in a little over 2 hours which seemed fine to me but since then from 10:29am to 1:25pm its down to 59%. Which is 7% in less then 3 hours. I powered off the watch right after run and again a hour or so later.

Three hours later I am at 57%. In the last three hours I left the house. I think it might have something to do with HRM. Maybe while I was home it used 7% battery searching for HRM as I was so close to it but when I left the house it stopped searching.
    Just a thought.
  • For me it is very disappointing. I came from the Fenix 5s. only using the watch as smart watch (Bluetooth on and HR, but no tracking or using GPS at all) it used to get a week and a day max. Now with the Fenix 5s plus, maximum I got is nearly 4 days. I know I should get a bit less than the Fenix 5s, but I'm getting half!!! ( And 3 days less than they put in specs....)
  • There is something very wrong with the battery meter. Yesterday I charged my 5 Plus at 21% to 45%. Went out for a 1 hour 41 min run with Spotify for 1 hour. When I stopped and saved the run battery meter was still at 45% Today 24 hours later with a 50 min walk battery is at 29%
  • Just to add a reference: I've had a 5x plus for 6 months. No wifi. 3 hours GPS-only activity per week, every second tracking. activity tracking on. backlight in auto mode. bluetooth sync to an Android phone, smartwatch turned on. I don't wear it at night. I get about 2.5 weeks of battery this way. It occasionally acts up and discharges more rapidly than normal. A reset by holding the power/light button 10 seconds stops this.

    Hi all

I’m on my 2nd fenix 5 plus titanium.
I absolutely loved my first one but it developed a fault that needed it to be replaced. No probs there, but here’s my problem.
Watch number 2 is on its 2nd battery cycle and is draining at a rate of 50% per 24 hours.
Watch number 1 worked great in the battery department with 1 charge needed per week so I think I’ve had enough experience to no something is drastically wrong with this replacement watch.

Any thoughts or tips? Should I just return to my seller? They are a reputable company,or is there anything I should try 1st to be sure.

Scratching my head here, so any help appreciated
