Disappointing battery life

I have just upgraded from a Fenix 5 to a Fenix 5 plus and so far I am finding the battery life to be a lot less than I would expect.

I used to get nearly 2 weeks battery life out of the Fenix 5 but so far the Fenix 5 plus has used 25% in 2 days, both watches are set up and used exactly the same.

I know the Fenix 5 plus is supposed to have slightly less battery life but at this rate it is not even going to last a week.

Does anyone know if this will improve if I cycle the battery a couple of times or if this is normal for this model

chatlow what was your initial battery level, 15%?

Mine was completely dead. 0. Wouldn't even start charging until it was kicked into life by plugging into my PC.

Mine went up 1 by 1 to 93. Then jumped to 100. See my earlier posts.

Icon came up suggesting it was pretty dead then 15% appeared. It got up to 59 then shot to 100. Restarted, set it up etc and saw 60% remaining! Restarted it again and it went to 97. It's been steady since and come down to 95 but only because I've been messing with it, trying out GPS, pay etc. Rebooted twice as test and still 95. Not going to recharge, just going to let it run down.

Hoping this bug gets fixed as pretty unreliable currently.

yep, currently you cannot tell exactly how much time it will stay on unless you restart it. which is absolutely not acceptable!

Took watch down to 2% with a bit of GPS (from 4%). Turned it off, then it wouldn't turn on so now back on charge.

So that is exactly 11days with a touch over 3hrs of GPS and 12 hours roughly of phone.

As long as I have a successful charge now. I'm happy with it.

So my second charge it just jumped from 82%+ to 100% pretty quick. Reboot took me back to 89%.

Just gonna leave it on charge for 2 hrs now before bed, regardless of if it jumps again and see what the % is on another reboot.

let us know, I'm, interested. If I can also get around 11 days with that usage, I'll be happy too.

rebooted and on 100%. Defo keeps charging when it auto jumps to 100%.

This is my second charge. First one did this too, but from 92 or 93%

how long do you estimate it takes to charge from empty to 100 then? Be helpful to know if I can't rely on the indicator. I usually don't let it go below 50 anyway and used to keep my old fenix charged from 50 to 100 once a week. thanks

Just over 2 hours to hit 100% then another 1hr for the last bit to really top it off.

I'd give it 3 hrs, reboot and it is says 100% your good.

im seeing another strange behaviour, for 24h it consumed around 10% and suddenly for 3-4h it consumed another 5%. also my impression is that when on charge and first jump to 100% occurs, if its not get restarted it will not charge to 100.... please correct me if im wrong.
