Recommended Bluetooth Headphones for 5+

Hi,

Anyone have any BT headphone recommendations for the 5+? Looking for running and cycling. dcrainmaker uses the Skullcandy Method which look decent. I basically don’t want them falling out while I’m moving around and I also want to be able to hear traffic decently. Any other suggestions? Not looking to break the bank.

My previous setup was an iPod shuffle (clip version) with some in earbuds on a wire. But the wire would move around and eventually pull out the bud.

Thanks,
  • Another success with Jaybird X3. Zero dropouts and good sound.
  • I've had good luck so far with Plantronics BackBeat FIT...no dropouts.
  • Hello everyone,

I´m using a Mpow Cheetah (MBH6) with my Fenix 5 Plus Sapphire, and I´m all happy with it.

No drop outs what so ever. Neither running nor while walking, even when I try to bring as much body as I can in between the headset and the watch it still works fine.

    Best regards
    Christian
  • I am running with watch on my left wrist and I have a pair of old Sony MDR-AS800BT which worked great with the 5+. However, when using the same earbuds with the 5S+, I got cut outs every time my left wrist was swinging backwards while running. I could stand still and just hold my left wrist back onto my left side buttocks and the sound would simply get cut out completely until moving my wrist into resting position or in front of me. Wearing the watch on the right wrist resulted in no cut outs but was very uncomfortable as I'm not used to wearing it on the right wrist (not a working solution for me).

Perhaps the 5S+ has a weaker signal or some different h/w in comparison to the 5+...?
Both of them are the sapphire edition.

So, using those particular Sony earbuds, I took the rubber parts off and switched places. Fortunately, I can now wear the earbuds reversed (right bud in left ear and so on), and now there are no cut outs with the 5S+ when running. It's ok-ish, but it's a little bit more ergonomic not to wear them this way.

When registering the watches with Garmin, a newsletter dropped and in that, they recommend the Skullcandy Method Wireless: https://www.skullcandy.com/shop/earb...ethod-wireless
I'm now contemplating whether I should be getting the Skullcandy earbuds just so that I won't get cut outs while running with my 5S+. It just seems so big with that "necklace" and all...
  • Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations for working earbuds for the 5S+ specifically?
It was hard to interpret whether previous posters meant they were using the 5+ or the 5S+.
  • Try the new Jabra Elite Active 65t....no cords, great sound AND they stay in your ears even when after several hours of running..:-)
  • I love my Skullcandy Method headphones. Reasonably priced, lightweight, easy to use. I’m no audiophile but sound quality seems fine to me. Only slight issue was my first pair lost sound in one ear after about two years due to a short, but I’ve been using it for several hours every day and between the workouts and being tossed, stepped on by kids and dogs and otherwise beaten and abused, I’m surprised they lasted that long.
  • Using a $26 set of Aukey Latitudes that work fine. No dropouts. Decent battery life. Good sound.
  • I also use Jabra Elite Active 65t, this are not cheap, but truly the best wireless, sport headphones I ever had!
They really stay in ear during activity, really very good sound, and you can even mix the sounds from the surroundings with the music (through the 4 mics) which is great for outdoor activities or answering someone's question without pulling them out of your ears.
My friend uses the Elite Sport model and is also very satisfied.
Great headphones and truly no wires attached ;)

How is your connectivity between the 65t and watch outdoors? I had massive dropouts with these and had to return to them. They did feel comfortable "in ear" and worked flawlessly indoors. The connection just wasn't reliable enough for me outdoors (as with most right-side Bluetooth antenna headphones).
