First Gen HRM-Run drops out after 2-ish mins

Second run with the new 5X+ and it did the same thing on each run - all strap related data; ground contact time & balance, stride length, vert oscillation, etc. stops recording at around 2 mins 14 seconds. My wife's new 5+ (not X) is doing the exact same thing. Still getting heart rate, cadence, etc, but that is likely coming from the watch when it drops the strap out. Battery changed in our HRM Runs a couple weeks ago.

We both just upgraded from 5X's which worked fine with the straps.
  • ..on the bright side James from beta team just asked me for .fit files on this topic so sent them for fenix 5 plus and 1st gen hrm run, and ones from a week earlier as comparison from a fenix3 + same hrm run belt all working. Hopefully a solution is coming guys...
  • OnlyTwo Everything just seems off lately with garmin connect and the fenix 5 plus. So I did check my HR zones, the user settings from the watch on the connect APP was correct where my HR Z 4 starts at 170 BPM. The zones on the connect.garmin website were also correct. However, the watch itself was set to use % of LT which said Z 4 was 164 BPM (which is very inaccurate). The watch settings should changed based on the watch user settings after it syncs. Anyway, what is more weird is that because the zones my watch were using was low it said 28% of my workout was zone 4 and 42% was zone 5. Doesn't this mean my workout should have been mostly anaerobic. The workout says all aerobic? How can I be in zones 4 and 5 that long and have no anaerobic?? Maybe the watch was using my correct zones, but graphed the zone output using the % LT?? I have no idea. ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1389592.png
  • Hi everyone, can people say the DURATION of your run that has the issues, and whether inside or outside thanks? I replied to James on beta team with some tests from earlier, while wearing two watches he asked me to run with at same time and could not replicate issue, noting there was TWO log files downloaded to my 3.56 fenix 5 plus via garmin express before i did them, and I have queried if that has in some way resolved the issue... TBC

I am going to do test 8 on Saturday , a c100 minute run with both watches on, but helpful if anyone else can say when they got the missing data, as I assume it will be ONLY on runs longer than 17 minutes now.

The duration of the activity doesn't matter, as long as it's over 2:10. Note that my early tests with 2 watches did NOT cut off. If Garmin is testing with multiple watches, that could skew their results.
Very discouraging that Garmin is not able to duplicate the problem yet.

Firmware 4.20 doesn't fix it, btw.
  • Hello and hi all. I have factually done as stated 8 runs over 3 minutes and in EACH and EVERY case now I have all the data. TBC The 7 tests I did were as stated on 3.56, noting again two log files sent to my fenix 5 plus via a garmin express sync, TBC what they were. The test 8 done today, finished about 12 minutes ago, on 4.20 software, was for 1:43:46 duration, and I can assure you I have ALL the data, including running power, ground contact time, balance vertical oscillation ect. On both fit files for fenix 5 plus, and fenix 3. I am looking at them in another window in chrome as i type. This surprised me as well.

So I am left with the assumption either my config has changed since last week when i had the issue, or beats the hell out of me... Ill send my data to the beta team, and my new HRM-RUN (Red one) arrived today, so I am going to wear that next week for my next run, so lets see if i get the issue when that belt...

If you ran with both watches on, this is not a surprise. See Post #9 in this thread.

Test with only the 5 Plus, no other watches, and the watch connected via bluetooth with your phone.

You're on Android, so that may be a difference - my wife and I are both on iOS (iPhone X).

We're able to replicate the issue 100% consistently. Ain't heard a peep from Garmin about our tickets that have been open since June.
  • OK, well I got a 5.0 there for training effort, so will try as you said on Tuesday :)
  • Hey your right, I just did it and fails still

... I'll do a 4 min hrm run Red run later to see affect as that strap arrived today.
