Frozen during open water swim

I did my second activity this morning with F5+T and the watch froze completely after 2mins 26s.
i used GPS+Galileo.
i could only get buttons to respond by holding down the top left button to reset the watch. The display said 73 metres (I had swim almost 300 before resetting) and now this is the record in Garmin connect

after reset I changed GPS to GPS +Glonass and the swim was perfect. Not sure if it is coincidence or not that I changed the settings and it was ok

Did 3 more swims today on GPS+Glonass with no issues, plus have done two runs and two hikes without incident. Hoping it was a one off!

So I have done quite a few more swims and runs with no freezing, but have not tried GPS + Galileo again. It’s set on +GLONASS and I have to say it doesn’t track as well as the standard F5. Here’s a 2k swim event I did on Sunday with a simple diamond shaped course.,it’s pretty jagged and records and extra 500m. Now I know I would not have swam quite straight but I definitely didn’t swim like this...

dc rainmaker published an article on his blog today suggesting that something is wrong with the open water swimming activity in the 5+ (and suunto 9 for that matter)

Interesting. As a side note I am really pleased with the GPS track on runs, it is much closer to the actual run I did and the instant pace during the run seems much more stable and realistic. It seems that swimming has been a low priority for a Garmin and I hope they are working to improve it.

I experience the same issue. My 5s Plus already froze twice during two openwater swims. First time in GPS+Galileo mode the second time in GPS+Glonass mode.

My Fenix 5 Plus freezed and rebooted today during a RUN, so I don't think that this issue is limited to swimming.
After rebooting the activity could be resumed where it crashed.
