Garmin Cycle Maps EU - not available or actually redundant ?

Good day,

I saw a youtube-video posted by DC Rainmaker where he shows the user interface and the menus on the 5 plus.
I noticed when he showed the maps settings that Cycle Maps were not shown as an option, just the TopoActive Europe maps.

This makes me wonder about 2 possibilities;
a) Fenix 5 plus does not come with Garmin Cycle Maps EU, 2018.10, South West & North East.

b) Garmin Cycle Maps EU, 2018.10, South West & North East are redundant when having TopoActive Europe v4 West & East. Should 5x owners just delete either of the 2 maps????

I bicycle (Single track MTB and road) more than I hike/run. Will I loose out on navigation when riding with [the 5 plus] vs [the 5x with Garmin Cycle Map enabled]?

Thank you for your thoughts on the matter.

Cheers.
  • On the 5x, after the latest map-updates per today, this is the map list:
    D4713060C - Garmin DEM Map EU 2017.20
Gmapprom - TopoActive Europe v4 West
    D6184010A - TopoActive Europe v4 East

D6019000A - Garmin Cycle Map EU, South West, 2018.10
Gmapcycle - Garmin Cycle Map EU, North East, 2018.10

Gmapsup1 - CourseView Medium SE Americas
Gmapsup2 - CourseView Medium SE Europe, Middle East & Africa
Gmapsup3 - CourseView Medium SE Pacific
    Gmaptz - Timezones map
    Gmapbmap - Basemap

The maps with large file size (1.5 -3 GB) are marked bold.

Fenix 5 plus and 5x plus owners:
    - What maps do you have on your watch? (found in the Garmin folder on your watch).
    - Does Garmin Express let you choose what maps you want on your device; TopoActive Europe v4 / Garmin Cycle Map EU, 2018.10?
  • I have the 5+, but have not seen any trace anywhere of the cycle maps EU 2018.10.
Should I care? Why does Fenix 5x have both Topo active and cycle maps?
  • I would hope that Fenix 5 Plus series Topo Active maps includes the EU cycle maps within them.
If not, not very good that the latest Fenix, is inferior to th 5X with regards to maps.
