Hi,

Dumb question maybe? apart from being lighter is any other benefit from this material? i guess maybe more scratch resistant (or less visible scratchs than balck bezel)??

Apart from battery life do you see any reason of not getting 5s over 5? i read somewhere lighter watche's OHRM have greater precision (less movement)...??

Best regards,
  • I think I really need to see Titanium F5 (non-DLC version) in person. It's kind of hard to judge from photos how the grey case really looks.

I totally agree. Regarding color of the casing (sides, not the bezel/back) I think it looks quite grey on the official pictures/renderings, but judging by the "real life" pictures posted in this thread it almost looks pitch black? Might of course just be due to lighting conditions though.
KaiBee maybe you're able to take a direct comparison picture(s) of the two?

    Here you go ...

Please let me know if you would like me to provide more pictures.
I will return the devices this evening (I will stay with the titanium) - if no one is interested in - purchased it for 680€ each.

Interestingly I didnt notice the grey side of the titanium until you now mentioned.
I rarely look at my own wrist from this perspective ...

I believe the titanium it will looks great with a black band. But I want to see it. Please, can you put the black band on titanium and take some photos? Distant and nearby. Worn on your wrist but and without it. :)

Exactly, what I am going for as well, still not sure of silicone or leather (or both).

Thank you very much. Silicone for every day and leather for more special moments. I have already ordered the titanium and just waited to see how it looks with a black band. I was between titanium and stainless steel. However, I finally ordered the titanium because I was afraid that in black color the scratches would look more intense.

it does not look half as good when you dont have the orange band on it
  • Joanna.S I believe the DLC coating you mention is actually a premium at over $1000!
The "standard" titanium bezel is not DLC coated, and this is actually where the durability question comes into it.

For the same price you can have titanium bezel or a stainless steel bezel, both look good in my opinion, my hesitation is which will live up to the daily use and knocks the watch will no doubt take.

Outside of being a lighter watch and having extra corrosion resistance, I'm not seeing a particularly strong argument for titanium over steel in terms of durability. It seems that both will get marked pretty easily with the darker steel maybe showing the marks more?
  • No scratches on mine yet and I know I scraped it on rocks swimming at Winspit at the weekend, so far so good.
