Hi,

Dumb question maybe? apart from being lighter is any other benefit from this material? i guess maybe more scratch resistant (or less visible scratchs than balck bezel)??

Apart from battery life do you see any reason of not getting 5s over 5? i read somewhere lighter watche's OHRM have greater precision (less movement)...??

Best regards,

I have mine 5Plus Titanium for less 24 hrs, and I already found a few scratches on the titanium bezel, It will scratch no matter how much care I treat it. I really like the lighter weight compare with my old a Fenix 5.

    F$ck......

Ouch. But that may have left huge white/silver scratches on my black finish, which would look even worse. I think the scratch will diminish over time in the Titanium.

Now I think the Titanium DLC grey would scratch really bad?

I think it can be polish/buff out with some wolf cloth. It's just scratch on the surface of the metal, not deep, I have way worse deep scratch on my Apple Watch Series 3 Stainless steel which can still polish off with some patience. Yes, my old Fenix 5 Sapphire has black DLC coating on it which looks worse when the coating came off from the normal wear and tear.

Could you measure a real weight of this watch?
I have seen it at local dealer shop and I had a feeling that it's heavier than my Fenix 3 (82g)

    Here you go.
Since I also was not able to decide I ordered both.
I had a 15% voucher only valid until today; since the devices were not yet available at the store I had to order online in order to compare.

I am still not exactly sure which one to return.

However, if someone is interested in having one or the other with 15% discount I would be willing to hand this.
I did not remove the foil, I did not switch on, I did not charge (and neither will) - only thing I did is weighing and putting on my wrist.

    Best wishes
    Kai

    Here you go.

This is exactly the numbers I am getting with 5 plus titanium and original 5 sapphire. With factory silicone band, 5 plus is 76g and 5 is 89g. Part of this is band weight. Watch only: 5 plus titanium weights 52g, 5 sapphire 65g.

While 13 g difference doesn't seem like much, subjectively this is actually pretty discernible. The titanium version definitely feels lighter.
  • thanks KaiBee!
I am really surprised - my first impression was that it is heavier than my Fenix 3

I think I really need to see Titanium F5 (non-DLC version) in person. It's kind of hard to judge from photos how the grey case really looks. I was thinking about pairing it with brown leather band for work eventually, but maybe other colors will look better.

Not the best picture, but kind of an idea what I had it mind for work. Not completely dull yet decent enough. I must say I am rather happy with it, despite the fact I still think the case should be darker.
