Titanium benefits?

Hi,

Dumb question maybe? apart from being lighter is any other benefit from this material? i guess maybe more scratch resistant (or less visible scratchs than balck bezel)??

Apart from battery life do you see any reason of not getting 5s over 5? i read somewhere lighter watche's OHRM have greater precision (less movement)...??

I swapped out my Sapphire edition for the Sapphire / Titanium for the looks and the lighter feel.
My Sapphire weighed 88gms and the Titanium comes in at 72gms, that's almost 20% and it's noticeable.

Bought a leather strap on Etsy and I’m pleased with how it looks with the watch. My only regret is that is not a quickfit strap and I will need tools every time I want to swap them for wet sports use.

To the guys who has bought the Garmin 22mm quick fit leather band: how is the quickfit mechanism connected to the leather? Screws and glue? Thinking of buying them, dismantle and send the parts to a craftsman.

Hello, I figure this would be the best place to post this.

I recently purchased my 5 plus titanium spark edition, as well as what is supposed to be the titanium band. (for wearing out, not working out)

The only thing I'm worried about is the person I bought it from had just purchased a stainless steel band and claimed it to be titanium. I have searched and not found any information on the weights of these bands nor any ways to tell the difference. On Garmins website they appear to have the same picture.

Any help at all would be appreciated.

The weight for the band I have, witch is supposed to be titanium, is 81.7 Grams.

@Crispin_Ellisdon You are right. It would not be easy, but I don’t think it would be that hard for the right craftsman.
It appears to me that the band has 3 layers at the quickfit-end where they may have made room for some fasteners in the middle layer. If I ever get a hold of some used leatherbands, I’ll give it a try.

Hello, I just ordered F5+ Ti orange and I'm wondering which band to buy for my second one. Can't decide between silicon Black or granite blue. .. Anyone tried the granite blue from F5? Looks good on pictures with old F5... Thank youciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1467931.jpg

I haven't understood a thing yet... has Fenix 5X Plus stainless steel DLC coating as well just like Ti version?

Titanium is not stronger than steel, the advantage of titanium is for volume it is lighter than steel for the volume and has a higher melting point. If it was stronger than steel it would be used in knives. The reason it is not is that steel is stronger although heavier. If titanium was stronger they would use it in many other applications and use a coating to make it harder
