No GPS, no speed data logged in Backcountry Ski mode

First time I used Garmin Enduro for logging Backcountry Ski activity. I used default values and by some reason, no GPS data and also no speed data were getting logged. :(

Double-checked the settings, the Power Mode is 'Normal': Glonass ON, HR ON, mobile connection ON. GPS setting: GPS + Glonass.

Activity data: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/10442889823

is this a bug maybe or I forgot to set something in?

Firmware is the newest: 24.10. Thanks!

  • If you go strictly by your activity seen, your watch never acquired GPS prior to starting the activity. What is equally odd is GPS was never later acquired. Even if you immediately started the activity but missed connecting to GPS first and then starting the activity, normally you will still acquire GPS at some point during the activity. Terrain could have certainly been a factor but reasonably unlikely since there are plenty of Ski APPS being used with GPS across Fitness/Outdoor watches that are recording fine.

You can test your Backcountry Ski APP further by stepping outside and seeing if your watch will acquire GPS while outside of your home. If you continue to have no GPS acquisition for the APP, see if your issue resolves following this Support Center article - How to Reset My Garmin Outdoor Watch.

  • Before reset I did a test again, waited until the watch found the GPS signal. No GPS, no speed. Afterwards I did a factory reset based on the instructions of Enduro user's manual (instead of soft reset). Okay, all my settings have been lost (-: but works fine now!

    Thanks again!
