sunrise/sunset exist in the garmin widget but can't be accessed in downloaded watchfaces

hello,

it seems that the connect-iq watchfaces that propose the sunrise/sunset time don't have these values.

in some topics it is said to save at least one gps location.

but i have already one saved from 2 weeks ago.
and the values are anyway existing in the sunrise/sunset widget, so they should be also available for the watchfaces, but it's not the case.

is there an explanation for this?

thanks

  • Hello,

Just start an activity and wait for the GPS to “go green”.

You can then discard the activity. This will anyway solve the sunrise/sunset problem with your watch face.

    Best

  • yes it is the answer i've found in some topics but i wanted to unerstand why the widget can get the values and not the watchfaces.
they both don't use the same method to display them?

2nd question i already activated the gps to get coordinates, 2 weeks ago. they are saved in the watch.
how often i have to update them, to not have the same problem?

  • I don't know exactly how the thing works internally. Only people from Garmin can give a definitive answer to your questions.

As far as I can tell, I'm pretty sure there is no communication between widgets and watch faces though. So, the fact that the widget has a GPS record doesn't necessarily mean that other stuff in the watch will.

Concerning the 2nd question, again, I don't know much details but, from my experience, you need to get the GPS only once after installing a new watch face. Well, certainly if you see that some GPS-related information does not show up. I do some activity, almost on daily basis, and I never have to worry about data not showing on my watch face. I would argue that, as long as you get the GPS once after installing the watch face (and you don't change geographical location), the watch face will show sunrise/sunset (and other related data) for a long time.

  • as long as you get the GPS once after installing the watch face (and you don't change geographical location), the watch face will show sunrise/sunset (and other related data) for a long time.

it's exactly my case, so maybe the problem comes from the watchfaces themselves.

    in any case, thanks
