Garmin Enduro "Resume Later" feature breaks the FIT synch?

I've been having trouble with My Garmin Enduro sometimes not synching activities and I have narrowed it down to my use of the "Resume later" feature.

I often go on long rides, and use the Resume later feature when I'm stopped for coffee / lunch etc. When I synch it later, it does not appear in my Garmin activities list and is greyed out on my watch in the previous activities list. If i try to import manually into Garmin Connect i get the error "One of your files was not accepted by the system. Please contact Support for assistance."  If I use an external fit repair website it works and i can successfully import into connect.

Using the website http://www.rainorshine.bike i've been able to load in the FIT and view it and sure enough, at the time when I used "Resume later" i find

(see the 2 rows with lat long both 179.999) - you can also see that the time stamp jumps around this time.

also when I view the FIT in this website I get

which kind of confirms that something is going wrong with lat /long

I've noticed this happens a few times during my activity - which might just be the default when I am out of GPS range because under cover etc. But, is this causing connect to fail to import the activity? is it the 180,180 lat/long or is it the jump in time stamp that is causing the synch error.

    Do you ensure the GPS is reconnected to the satellites before pressing start to resume the activity?

    Not particularly- that may explain the 180,180 but surely that shouldn’t cause Garmin connect to reject the activity synch?

    It is feasible if the poor satellite fix screws up the file. Next time you resume after a pause, ensure you have good gps before you start. You should see the gps ready signal as usual before you press start, just like you should when starting an activity from new.

    Appreciate your reply. I find it hard to believe though and if true I’d say that’s a bug rather than an acceptable behaviour. I never wait for GPS fix when I start an activity - never have in 5 years of using Garmin Fenix and now enduro and I’ve never had this problem until about one month ago. When staring an activity before full gps fix, The watch just starts counting time and if running estimates distance based on pace and switches to gps distance as soon as it gets a fix. I don’t see why resume later restart would be any different, nor do I think that is a good enough reason for a corrupt fit file that Garmin connect can’t read but third party apps can. And but he way, this time the watch crashed as I saved it (restarted with the Garmin logo). - but that doesn’t always happen when I get a corrupt fit. 

    Also, if I chose outdoor swim I never get full gps fix in the water unless I hold my arm out of the water so that excludes your theory. 

    anyone on this forum able to take a look at my fit file and see if they can find something unusual that is causing a synch failure?

    Thank you for further information. I am sorry you continue to have an issue. You clearly have a serious issue with your Enduro watch. It will need to be exchanged with your regional Outdoor Product Support.

    One of the first things the owners manual says is to get a GPS fix BEFORE starting an activity that requires GPS. That also extends to restarting after Resume Later.

    You will never get a fix in water if your watch is below the surface. Same thing applies, you need to ensure a good GPS fix BEFORE starting to swim.

    Great to see Garmin responding to you. However, without second guessing them I wonder if you simply need to read the manual and wait for a good GPS connection before starting any activity and after Resume Later.

    Just to be clear, I think it's worth telling users that they don't have to have a good GPS connection before starting an activity, a Garmin watch will work fine without waiting and will simply start tracking GPS position once it can lock on to location. You can test this by starting an activity inside you home, leave it on for a minute with no GPS and end it. It will synch just fine with Connect although it won't have a location and will use internal movement sensor for distance moved. It's a very handy feature when you're at the start line of a city marathon and can't get good GPS fix.... you just start the race. Otherwise, there would be many people crowding at the start line waiting for a GPS fix...telling people that you MUST get a GPS fix before starting an activity is simply incorrect. I'd say the manual is more of a guideline, because obviously waiting for GPS fix is better.My enduro just has a problem with resume later.... to be determined if it's hardware fault or simply the latest software.

    Agreed that anything is possible. At the moment, you are the only report worldwide since the v20.30 software update was released. The Resume function is commonly used. If it becomes a pattern, it becomes known fast. The 20.30 series software is on the Fenix 6 series, Enduro, and MARQ series.

    thanks, I've got a mate with the same watch and I'll confirm with him. If I do contact Outdoor product support, do I tell them "Garmin - Chris" sent me???? Am I correct that you work for Garmin?

    When you speak with the Outdoor Wearables Support agent, let them know everything you have done to try to correct the behavior. You are welcome to advise a senior wearables agent in the USA suggested you warranty replace your watch after taking into account your issue, no other reports, and what you have already tried.
