unable to update maps

Hello,

Anybody had similar issue? it says new map updates has a lot of data hence it cannot be applied as the device internal memory is not enough. Also says to contact support. thought i doubt it will  be of much help...

  • nevermind, i figured it out - if you have any maps uploaded that is the issue - apparently the updates are made by using the free space on the watch as a buffer, which i find like a totally stupid idea and big flaw!!! there are merely 2 gb free for the user and apparently you can´t count on it and have to remove the maps you uploaded manually every time big maps updates comes...

  • which i find like a totally stupid idea and big flaw!!!

Actaully I find it is the opposite. Saving an uploaded file first, and verifying its integrity before overwriting the orginal is the standard way how remote file updates should happen. If you deleted the file before you start uploading, at a failed upload you'd stay without any functional file.

  • if you have OS restricted file system and user available storage it is logical you don't rely on user storage for updates especially when we are talking about limited storage device. User available memory is roughly 2 gb which is hardly a pair of maps...so if you  rely on updating the stock maps on the user storage something is wrong....i am not saying the reason they do it like that is stupid, the way is. And i am pretty sure they don't do it like that and verify anything as they simply don't have that much space left on both the system and user storage
