Watch has gone blank and is unresponsive

My Descent MK1 was operating fine, and then I looked to check my BPM and the watch was blank. No time, no anything. Tried to turn on and no response for power or any button. What could be wrong? What can I do? Yesterday I charged the watch, so battery should be sufficiently charged.

  • Strange, the same happend to me today. It worked fine during my dive, and I heard the signals that the datas were saved afterwards. When I looked at my Descent an hour later it was blank and I am not able to switch it on again

Evidently in my case, my battery was not charged as much as I thought or it discharged rapidly. I put the Descent on a charger for maybe 30 minutes while I did some searching for a solution. What I found and did was with the watch in the charger, I held the power button for 30 seconds, released the button for a few seconds, and then pushed the power button again for about 3 seconds. The watch then turned on and I was able to fully charge it. So that is my suggestion for you to try. I hope those directions are correct for you to try and that they work and that we never encounter this problem again.

Oh  and here is the link for the directions i followed support.garmin.com/.../

  • Two times I have charged my Descent in the morning until it read 100%, only to find it in single digits by the end of the day. I did not use any apps on those days, so no diving or GPS. I just wrote it off to a software bug as it cleared when I recharged it.
