Will there be an update for the firmware of the mk1 since mk2 is released??
Here’s a list of issues that I remember off the top of my head.
There are many more but I’d have to go through this forum to get them or just look at the list of fixes in each update and also the…
I followed some of your posts when I was more active on this forum. The Aviation side of things seemed to have the same treatment from Garmin in terms of being on the outside of prompt updates/fixes.

We barely got any before the Mk2 was released!
The Descent MK1 was on the Fenix 5X platform and the Descent MK2/MK2i is on the Fenix 6X Pro series platform. 2 entire generations newer. However, there may still be occasional software updates on the Descent MK1 based on the history of our other Outdoor watches.
Forget the Fenix 5X platform, how about fixing the problems that are unique to the Mk1?
We have been complaining about this for years!
Software updates will continue to address fixes. Nothing has changed in the support of the Descent MK1.
- Last update: Descent MK1 Software v10.40.
But that's just it and what people have been furious about, problems AREN'T BEING FIXED and the rare cases they do it takes MONTHS!
The latest update even reintroduced bugs that had been previously fixed!
Also please look at the UI of the watch in the dive mode. I believe there is and opportunity for improvements. The community has generously given so many feedback.
This is the problem based on your statements in this post. The Fenix 5x (no longer available on the Garmin site) appears to be still receiving regular updates while the Descent Mk1 (which is still being sold by Garmin for $1000) has a very very poor history of updates with one taking close to a year despite lots of bugs being reported by people in this forum. Essentially, in my opinion, the feeling is that THERE IS NO SUPPORT for the Descent Mk1. A lot of users have already felt like they have been abandoned/ignored by Garmin which shouldn't be the case for a device that again costs a grand. This is only being exacerbated now that the Mk2 has been released with a feeling that Garmin is going to say "tough luck for the Mk1 users, buy an Mk2 if you want your issues fixed". Saying "nothing has changed" or "may still be occasional updates" isn't very encouraging either. Just my 2 cents on some of the frustration.
Let me start with the fact that I love Garmin products, from a running, outdoors and pilot perspective. They are the market leader in all those areas, and in the case of aviation, they are the only smart pilot watch offering. However, if you think that moving to the Mk2 will fix your Mk1 problems, I suggest you look over at the D2 series where the watch is a poor second-cousin compared to the base model Fēnix series and where several key bugs have followed from the D2 Bravo to the Charlie to the Delta without being fixed. This I know first hand because I've owned the D2B, D2C and D2D and in most cases, I am the one who's first reported the bug.
Because of the treatment (or lack thereof) that specialty watches get, and because I already shell out for Garmin's pilot watches, I have, and will continue to, stick with my Suuntu Vyper with integrated air that I've had since the early 2000s.

Are all updated/fixed things on the 5x really updated on the Mk1?
