DEMA 2019 started today, wondering if anyone is at the event and if they have seen any signs of the Descent MK2...
Hi, I visited the Garmin booth at the InterDive2019 (Friedrichshafen, Germany) in September and they told me the MK2 would be released in March 2020 in two versions. One with AI and one without. The guy…
I'm on the floor now. No Descent MK2 will be announced here but versions coming soon. Also, new Dive only app in beta.
DEMA was the appropriate event for them to introduce this new model. Either bad planning or they’re having issues with having a properly working watch.
You and me both, but they will probably look at how successful Suunto was with their own transmitters and decide to develop their own.
Hope they add new pulse meter (4 leds in line) like in the Fenix 6 . I'm also waiting for MK2.
The Descent Mk2i popped up on Garmin's update servers. Product number 006-B3258-00 which puts it in the MARQ range (3246 - 3251), so probably Sony GPS, new 3rd gen pulse+SpO2 sensor, Garmin Pay, music.
How did you check the product number?
Garmin Express works by sending the product number to the update servers and the servers answer with the latest applicable firmware update, device name and a short description. If you monitor what Garmin Express sends to the server, you can imitate the request but with a different product number and see what happens.
Happen to come across anything regarding a new D2 series, maybe called D2 Echo or something similar while you were going through that process?
Not yet. But usually new devices only pop up on those servers after they got their first public firmware update.
Nice news. Can't wait to buy it...:-)
With CES 2020 next Tuesday, anyone have any thoughts/info as to whether or not the MK2 will surface at the event?
Garmin usually announces products at CES. The Mk2 may be on the ticket this year (even though the most LOGICAL place would have been at DEMA) at CES, if not, then maybe in March.
Knowing how they (Garmin) supported (or lack thereof) the Mk1, are you going to rush to drop 1k+ on the Mk2?
