I just sent a second email to the Garmin CEO, which will probably be read and actioned on by a staff member. But it will be interesting to see what response I get this time.
I would guess, at some level(s) in their corporate structure is a manager who doesn't give a so & so re clients thoughts, and that approach is eventually felt by us.
I've gone from eagerly awaiting a MK2 (I need AI, and the non-dive related features of Garmin initially appeared to be awesome), to thinking if it ever does happen, and even if its core diving features work seamlessly, I would get so annoyed by the multiple other features not working / slow updates, and super annoyed by the unresponsiveness of what feels like just another corporate.
I think the reality probably is, nothing in early 2019, AI will take a long while to de-bug and get right ... call it 2020/1, and issues above roll on.
For sure, issues, bugs happen all computers, but ...
I would prefer to give my $ to a Co that engages, has a powerful, simple and reliable computer that has EXCELLENT client engagement! And once that's done, maybe a MK5 will be on the cards if it exists!!
What would be nice to know is how an idea or a problem diving related is handled and who makes the decisions. When the Admin Chris was poking his head around here, he specifically stated that “deeply experienced divers” were making the changes/decisions which Mark you know professional to professional what that “really” means. It took them from the beginning of January to April to make the compass change (which I am grateful for) and one other adjustment. Imagine a more serious or complex issue.

You dive professionals need to check the specs of HRM-Tri, depth rating in particular. Would've saved you some ink.
Well...maybe if someone would have looked at what 5atm translates too, looked at the compatible devices as stated by Garmin...AND knew what the recreational limits were for diving, then maybe someone could have saved their fingers from typing an idiotic post.

That would've been likely course of action if pressure depth relation was the most complicated equation I've ever done. This way I have to look into ISO 2281, ISO6425 and EN13319. The specs for the HRM-Tri state a Water rating of 5 ATM with a link right there to what their water ratings mean and that 5 ATM is unsuitable for Scuba Diving.
