Air integration

Hi guys,

I don't know if this has been discussed before, has anyone tried to pair the MK1 with any Air Trasmiter?

From what I understand MK1 has WI-FI so wanted to check if the watch is compatible with any of the cylinder mounted transmitters.

Thanks!
  • Only electromagnetic waves of very low frequencies (VLF) can be propagated under water, and as far as I know, Air Integration works at 5.3 kHz (Suunto Viper, for example). There is no official data for MK1 to be able to communicate on these low frequencies, so therefore without HW changes (maybe MK2), MK1 will never be compatible with AI.
  • The Descent Mk1 only supports WiFi and Bluetooth, neither of which would be usable for air integration underwater. AI would be a feature for a Mk2 model that incorporated a new transmitter/receiver that used an appropriate frequency for use underwater. I would hope that Garmin does not try and reinvent the wheel with AI, ask Suunto how that worked out for them.
