This morning I was reminded why I have a love/hate relationship with Garmin! They make great products that are let down by poor programming/quality control.
Alarms: To wake you up in the morning or remind you of something
It appears there are two ways to set alarms: On the watch itself through the Clock settings or via the mobile App.
Setting alarms through the watch works well. You can create multiple alarms for different times, turn them on or off, determine whether they repeat, and even have custom repeat, e.g. every Tuesday. You can also decide on vibration, tones, and/or backlighting.
Setting alarms through the mobile app fills me with lack of confidence in the ability of Garmin programmer. The idea is great but the implementation is poor.
With the mobile app I can set the time, I can have tones and/or vibration but no backlight. For frequency I can toggle each day of the week OR I can choose Once.
I had to get up at 6:00am on Wednesday so I set an alarm for 6am on Tuesday night and set the Frequency to Once. Wednesday morning the alarm worked perfectly at 6:00am.
Thursday I didn't have to get up and could sleep in however the alarm still went off because it appears "Once" means once every day. How stupid is that? There's also no way to turn the alarm off, you have to delete it to stop it from occurring every day.
