Map of Dive Location on Garmin Connect (web)

I did my first dive with my Descent MK1 on Sunday. The dive shows on the MK1 with the correct location of the entry/exit point. The dive also shows on Garmin Connect Mobile with a map. However, there's no map at all on Garmin Connect (web). Is anyone else seeing this?

When I look at dives for some of my Connections on Garmin Connect, they have maps.

This is the dive: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/2562174435
  • Does it show on the map if you click on ”Dive” in the menu on the left hand side?
  • No. If I bring up the map view it defaults to Kansas City for some stupid reason but there is no marker on the map. If I scroll out, move over to Australia, and zoom in to Kurnell (where I dived), there is still no marker.

If I go into the dive itself, I get the depth and temperature profiles (as I turned off HR) but there is no map showing where the dive was.
  • Checking my geotracked activities, they all showed the map on the web page (under the dive profile for dives).

The only strange thing was a free dive that shows me starting the free dive in Toronto, and ending it in Belize.
  • It must be yet another bug in Garmin Connect or Garmin Connect Mobile as I don't have a map.

Hopefully, the sea conditions will improve in Sydney over the next couple of days and I'll be able to get a few dives in. and see what happens with subsequent dives.
  • My second dive worked fine. I get a map for it on Garmin Connect (web).

Comparing what I see on the watch and GCM for the two dives I realise now that the problem was the watch didn't capture the entry coordinates for the dive, only the exit. This must be why the map is not showing on GC (web).

As to why the entry point wasn't recorded. I thought I went into Single-Gas before the dive and GPS was green but perhaps I didn't. I was leading a dive and so was somewhat distracted. I know for my second dive I definitely had GPS signal just before I descended.
  • Could be that. Or a bug. It has some similarities to my situation.

My "glitch" was that my first use of the watch in water (free dive) did not seem to properly gather the entry GPS location, but then worked afterwards (I paid no attention as to whether it had satellite lock when I dove). In my case it may have defaulted to the last lock it had. In your case, perhaps there was not another valid GPS, so it logged nothing.

Just a theory. Or maybe a coincidence.
