I am curious if for PADI cold water divers in the PNW, if they will have the option to have their heart rate read while underway, much like warm water divers.
At present, however, the info doesn't display in realtime on the watch... it has to be viewed after the fact via Garmin Connect. I think the OP was asking about live data while the dive is underway.
The optical heart rate on Descent Mk1 will work when you are using the Diving application on the watch but that wouldn't be an option when cold water diving since you will be wearing a full length wet suit. Now you could pair either HRM Swim or HRM Tri strap to the Descent Mk1 during your drive and be able to download the heart rate data after you exit the water. Both of those straps are water rated at 5 ATM's and operating temperature range for those straps are -10 to 50 degrees Celsius or 14 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit.
