pausing a round ?

What happens when you pause a round on the x40? I assume it stops automatic shot detection, but is there anything else? I was thinking that pausing the round was how you handle provisional shots, but I'm not sure if that is correct?
When you pause a round of golf, your Approach X40 will go back to the main time screen. When ready to resume, you will go back to Golf and continue where you left off.
