For the Approach S20's generation, you will clear smart notifications either by reading them on your S20 or they will clear from your watch only after you clear them off your smartphone.

How long will they stay in "notifications" until I clear them from my phone? 1 day? overnight? 1 week? Forever?

Additional question- Even after I read them on my S20- they stay on there?

Messages do not stay on any outdoor watch. You have to be Bluetooth connected to your smartphone to read their content. Clear them from your smartphone and they will no longer be on your watch.
