How do I connect to my Garmin Montana 700 with a cable and USB OTG connector to my phone to load gpx files from my phone to the 700?

I am in an offline area in the outback.

No cell / mobile service and on the trail trying to get a gpx file from my android phone (or android tablet) to my Montana 700.

We are miles into a trail, dirty and tired and we can't continue in this direction.

We have to get out of here and try another idea.

I have an android note22 that I have created a track (gpx) file using OSMAnd+ stored in a internal file folder called "maps".

How do I copy this gpx file to my Montana?

I have a USB OTG connector and cable. Can I physically connect the phone to the Montana to transfer the file?

Both phone and 700 are setup with bluetooth.  Can I send the gpx to the Montana?

I have a gpx on the Montana, how do I copy this to my phone, make edits in OSMAnd+ and transfer back to Montana?

  • Solved.

Was able to create a gpx on the phone, connect to 700 with usb cable and usb otg connecter and transfer file to sdcard on the 700 and view the track on a map.  Had to set file manager on phone to show root directories to see both 700 storage and sdcard storage.

Garmin BaseCamp does not like the file b/c the markup is different than it expects so I'm unable to view it in BC.

Same method is used to copy gpx off of the 700 to phone and back.
