Montana 750i shuts down

I never received an email with the possible fix. Ive wrote to my local garmin support and they had no idea that this even is a problem. I provided them the link to this forum and the answer was: we will exchange your device. So i am asking again here for that email. Its now my 3. Device. I am pretty unhappy.

I'm desperate...

Even my Montana 750i sometimes shuts down completely whether running on battery or plugged into power.

Furthermore, GPS is very inaccurate; driving along an open highway, the vehicle cursor is located off the road on the map.

I purchased the device in September 2021, I contacted support for these problems and they told me that the device must be collected by the courier and repaired at my expense.

Does anyone know if there is at least a procedure for calibrating the GPS?
That's really inaccurate! Even when I walk on an open-air road, the outward and return routes are very different and distant, even though the same road has always been taken.

Hello, I would first make sure your device is up to date Updating the Software on Your Montana 700, 700i, or 750i. As for the compass please see Compass Calibration for Outdoor Handhelds.

Thank you for your reply.
Obviously, before writing in the forum, I have already done everything possible.

The firmware of my 750i is already version 10.90, I performed the compass calibration, and I also tried to reset the settings, but the problems persists.
But what does compass calibration have to do with the problems reported to the GPS?

Now, my device has expired warranty (2 years in Italy) and I fear that any repair would cost me too much.
Hundreds of euros thrown away...what a disappointment...

I appreciate that, however the most up to date software version for the Montana 750i is 19.00. I would recommend plugging your device in to your computer and using Garmin Express to update the unit again and verify it has the latest as it sounds as if it might not.

As for the compass, I had read your commend wrong previously. You can disregard the compass calibration.

It was a typo...the installed version is 19.00

Are there any firmware updates or utilities to fix GPS inaccuracy?

Leslie can you please share what parts needs to be replaced? And if newly shipped devices already have these fixed-replacedment-parts pre installed?

Hello, depending on the situation it could be bushings that we need to replace on the mount but each case could be different. However, the replacement devices and mounts would not have the new bushings already installed. We handle these issues on a case by case bases as not all of them are the same.
