Just received a new Garmin Montana 700i for Christmas. The first thing I did was started downloading satellite maps for a national park that I visit numerous times a year. I used up the meager 3-ish GB of memory quickly, but figured I’d just grab a card and throw it in and keep downloading. Wishful thinking. Tried three different types of 32 GB cards (A1,A2, U3, etc.) none were even recognized by the device. I plugged my device in to a desktop and reformatted the cards to FAT32 and still did nothing. I then started reading all of the issues that people have with memory cards on their devices, and Garmin’s consistent inability to fix the issue or expand native memory on their devices (3 GB? Are we in 1999?). So my question is this: is there a brand of memory card (with particular specs) that anyone has used that will actually work on the Montana’s 700i’s architecture? Please, don’t start a barrage of “Just reformat it this or that way” comments. Just give me your experience with a card that will plug and play.
