I was gifted a Garmin Montana 750i for mountaineering/alpining. I’ll rarely use it for vehicle navigation. While on trail to summit I want to know my real time and activity display, distance to summit, remaining elevation, and trail conditions. Is there a way to set up my device to strictly on-foot performance? During my last ascent we were half a mile from summit, where the Montana stated arrival time was approximately 20 minutes, which is not accurate for on-foot travel. Also, during the most challenging and dangerous part of our ascent the screen went black, still responsive, but put us in real danger when we had to stop, devolve, and get it running again. How can I avoid this in the future? Thank you.
