Montana 700 AA Battery Pack Failure

My Montana 700 has suddenly stopped recognizing the AA Battery pack and refuses to boot when it is installed. I have tried three brand new sets of Alkaline batteries and a set of freshly charged NiMH, all with the same results. A totally blank screen and no response pressing or holding the power button. Pop in the Li-ion battery pack and it boots right up.

Visual inspection all pins are OK and in perfect condition, and yes, batteries are indexed with proper polarity. Voltage available at the only two pins on the AA Battery pack is 3.907vDC.

My 700 had run the li-ion battery pack to zero and shut down prior to this observation. The AA battery pack had worked just fine prior to this.

Seems most likely an internal Montana 7x0 hardware failure since it was working then quit.

Anyone else observe similar issues?
