Altering profiles in Garmin Montana

I am searching for the meaning of the profile-parameter <OffCourseDist>.

Two questions:

1 Who knows?

2 How can I alter a parameter in a profile file? I tried using Windows explorer (Garmin via USB). This seems to work but after a restart the setting is back to default (500)

If the parameter is part of a profile, the accepted way to modify it is to:

1) Make the profile current

2) Change the parameter. This will automatically save the change for the current profile.

I am not quite sure. It may be the distance to the trail.

A profile, if you know the meaning and value of the parameters you can modify it with any text editor.
Also as mentioned before, by changing parameters in the configuration.
